How can I safely operate a hand-held diamond coring motor in brick?

To start, always wear personal protective equipment. That includes non-slip footwear, gloves, eye protection and hearing protection.

Use of the side handle is absolutely essential, and it must be properly tightened.

It’s important to select the correct gear for the diameter. Refer to the chart etched onto the gearcase for the correct selection.

Remember, never lock the switch on for hand-held operation: the operator must be free to instantly turn the switch off at any time. Only lock the switch on when the machine is securely mounted to a drill stand.

Unstable standing positions and holding positions are hazardous! Always ensure you are on a stable platform and stand properly, being ready to resist the torque of the machine at all times.

If a centering pilot is used, remove it after a few millimeters of the kerf is established.

If the clutch slips, release the trigger immediately. Do not allow the clutch to continue slipping or it will wear prematurely.

Drilling hand-held is an efficient way to drill as long as the operator respects the limitations and safety rules above.
